Each jar started out with a coat of tile and glass medium, which adheres to nonporous surfaces, such as glass, and creates a porous service for the paint to adhere to. They then receive 4 coats of acrylic base coat, the design is painted on and finally, a sealant is applied to keep the design safe forever.
The glass medium and sealant are water based and non flammable products. They are intended for candle use.
It's actually quite a long process because each coat much cure before the next coat is applied. But the results are worth the time it takes to paint them. I hope you'll enjoy these candles as much as I've enjoyed painting them.
